“My work explores the intersections of quilting, collage and sculpture. I combine techniques such as fabric collage, piecing, applique, and quilting to create works rich in color and texture. My pieces are primarily fabric, overlaid with “thread-painting”, enhancing the color, texture, and detail.”
Oscar Rodriguez is a Cuban-American fiber artist and a visual arts instructor for the Los Angeles Unified School District. His work is diverse and includes art quilts and figurative painting on textile surfaces. His recent work involves creating three dimensional fabric sculptures that explore the interrelationships of space, shape and form.
