Pasadena Society of Artists & Arroyo Arts Collective join together for an exhibit celebrating Halloween and Dia de los Muertos (Day Of The Dead)

Call for Entries

Theme Description: A presentation of art rejoicing in Halloween and Dia de los Muertos, including the differences and similarities between the two celebrations.

Location:  Pasadena Central Library, 285 East Walnut Street, Pasadena, CA 91101. Library hours: Mon – Thu 9 AM – 9 PM, Fri – Sat 9 AM – 6 PM, Sunday 1 – 5 PM

Deadline to Apply: August 26, 2017

Exhibition Dates: October 1 to October 30, 2017

Reception: Saturday, October 14, 2 PM – 4 PM Library East Patio

 

Entry Information for Arroyo Arts Collective members:

-Up to two (2) entries per AAC member.

-No application fee, but $15 publication fee is requested from each accepted artist.

-All 2- and 3-d media accepted – family friendly, please!

-Size limitation: 12″ x 16″ horizontal or vertical, including frame. 3-D work: 12″ high x 16″ wide x 8″ deep.

Entry Package emailed to gf@kpclegal.com by August 26, 2017 includes:

-150 word maximum artist statement related specifically to the artwork, in Word document. The statements may be displayed next to the artwork and/or included in the exhibition catalog.

– 300dpi images labeled ArtistLastName_Title.jpg. These images may be used in publicity, so make sure they’re good ones.

-Include in body of email: Artist name, address, phone, email, website. For each entry include: title, media, year, size, price.

Exhibition Catalog: The exhibition catalog contains a floor plan with the location of all display cases, artist contact information, (telephone and email), a description of the exhibition, artist statements and price list.  It also includes information about each organization participating in the exhibition. A $15 publication fee is requested from all participating artists. The catalog will be available at the circulation desk. No price information will be posted on the artwork labels.

Artwork Drop-off: Sunday, October 1, 1 PM – 2 PM

Installation: Sunday, October 1, 2 PM – 4 PM

Exhibition Opens: Sunday, October 1, 4 PM

Exhibition Dates: October 1 to October 30, 2017

Artists’ Reception: Saturday, October 14, 2 PM – 4 PM Library East Patio

Artwork Pick-up: Monday, October 30, 7 PM – 8:30 PM

The Pasadena Central Library has 16 different locked display cases throughout the library. Six display cases with glass on both sides are in the north entrance off the main parking lot. Six display cases with glass on both sides are in the Centennial Room. Two display cases are located in the both the Business Wing and Humanities Wing. The display cases can present a minimum of 60 to a maximum of 120 pieces of art. Eight display cases will be allocated to AAC members.

Please note: Some accepted artwork will be photographed. Artwork is not insured by PSA or AAC or Pasadena Public Library.  The Library does not collect any commission on artwork sales. AAC artists are requested to offer a donation of 10% or more of their gross sales to the AAC.
