Art is “Springing” Up All Over!

Call for Art: Some Place Like Home invites artists to submit work inspired and related to the themes of home and displacement. We are particularly interested in narrative works reflecting current or historical events. Submission deadline is Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 4:00 pm. Exhibition at Avenue 50 Studios, 131 N. Avenue 50 Studio, Highland Park, in August.

Call for Art: What Is It? Where Is It? Why Is It? is an Arroyo Arts Collective members only* show, featuring abstract work that is sourced in a sense of place. Submission deadline is Sunday, June 30 2019 at 12:00am. Exhibition location at Neutra Museum and Gallery, 2379 Glendale Blvd., Silver Lake, in September.

SHELTER – Presented by the Arroyo Arts Collective, in conjunction with the Audubon Center at Debs Park

Site-specific installations address a wide range of themes related to local flora and fauna and their habitat, including ecology concerns, health and safety, and migratory patterns. Enjoy a truly unique blend of art and nature, and a rare glimpse of an urban wildlife sanctuary set in a Northeast Los Angeles neighborhood.

On June 2, in conjunction with Lummis Day 2019, the Arroyo Arts Collective will host free activities throughout the day.

Start your morning off with Bees And Butterflies: Beyond Borders – Bring your puppet(s), don your costumes and join us for the 4th annual Lummis Day Puppet Parade. We welcome all insect inspired costumes, hats and masks, so brush up your antennae and shine your exoskeleton.

Join us on the “Teatro Arroyo/Bugs”Stage for Butterfly Rhapsody: The Journey of the Monarch, an original work created especially for the Lummis Day Festival. Showtimes 1:30pm, 2:45, 4:00pm

And in-between, stop by the Family Fun Area to create your very own Bird-Hat making from 1:30 – 3:30pm.

.All activities are free and oh so family friendly!!!

Member exhibits in the Blue Wall Alcove at Avenue 50 Studio continue through 2019. Monthly shows coincide with NELA Second Saturday Artwalk.

La Tierra de la Culebra Art Park is taking the winter off. Join us in April as we partner with other local non-profit groups to bring you puppets, chess events, art, drums, and more! Puppets in the Park will return for 3rd Sunday’s with fun show and puppet crafts.
